New World: Rise of the Angry Earth is the first major expansion for the MMORPG New World, dramatically changing the landscape and progression systems of the base game. The centerpiece of the DLC is the transformation of the southeastern region of Aeternum, now known as Elysian Wilds, a new zone overrun by the powerful magic of the Angry Earth. This expansion raises the level cap to 65 and introduces a massive shift in player progression with the removal of Gear Score and the introduction of a new system called Artifacts, ultra-rare weapons and armor with unique perks that redefine character builds. Furthermore, the expansion introduces mounts (horses, dire wolves, and lions) for rapid travel across the expansive world, a new weapon type (Flail & Shield), a new Elite Trial Expedition (The Savage Divide), and a new endgame Seasonal Trial (The Beast).
