XCOM 2 - Alien Hunters DLC
The Alien Hunters DLC for XCOM 2 transforms the tactical campaign by introducing a new layer of threat and power. This content pack focuses on a new type of enemy and the unique gear required to combat them.
The centerpiece of the DLC is the introduction of three formidable "Ruler" aliens: the Viper King, the Berserker Queen, and the Archon King. These aren't your typical enemies; they are powerful, one-of-a-kind boss aliens with a new "Ruler Reaction" ability. Every time one of your soldiers takes an action—be it moving, shooting, or reloading—the Ruler gets to take a reaction in response. This mechanic fundamentally changes how you approach combat, forcing you to carefully consider every move. If you don't manage to kill them in a single encounter, they will escape to fight you again in a later mission, retaining any damage they took.
To help you combat these new foes, the DLC provides a new narrative mission and four powerful, prototype weapons:

The Bolt Caster: A rifle-like weapon that deals massive damage but holds only a single shot.

The Hunter's Axe: A melee weapon for your Rangers that can be thrown as a free action.

The Shadowkeeper: A pistol for your Sharpshooters that can return the user to concealment after a kill.

The Frost Bomb: A grenade that can freeze targets in place, making them vulnerable to attack.
In addition to the weapons, defeating and autopsying a Ruler alien allows you to craft a unique suit of armor from their corpse, each with its own special abilities, such as the ability to fly or a one-time melee attack. Be warned, though: if a soldier equipped with any of this unique gear dies and isn't recovered, the items are permanently lost.
Alien Hunters is a challenging addition that adds new strategic considerations and high-stakes encounters to the XCOM 2 campaign.
