Description:
Lost Judgment is an action-adventure video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and a direct sequel to the 2018 game Judgment. It was released in 2021 and puts players back in the shoes of private detective Takayuki Yagami.
Core Gameplay and Story
The game's story begins with Yagami and his partner, Masaharu Kaito, taking on a seemingly simple investigation into a high school bullying case in the city of Ijincho, Yokohama. This initial case quickly spirals into a complex and dark conspiracy involving a murder with a prime suspect who has an airtight alibi, and a broader plot that challenges the very nature of justice.
Lost Judgment expands on the detective and combat mechanics of its predecessor:
-
Expanded Combat System: The game retains Yagami's two signature fighting styles, Crane (for fighting groups of enemies) and Tiger (for single-target brawls). It also introduces a new style, Snake, which focuses on parrying and deflecting an opponent's attacks.
-
New Investigation Mechanics: Yagami's toolkit for detective work is improved with new gadgets and abilities. This includes using a detective dog, a highly sensitive microphone, and a new parkour system for traversing rooftops.
-
The School Stories: A major new addition is the extensive side content set at Seiryo High School. Yagami goes undercover as a club advisor, allowing players to participate in a variety of unique mini-games, including a Dance Club rhythm game, Boxing, and Robotics Club challenges. This content often has its own separate storylines and rewards.
-
Two Cities: The game's world is split between the returning city of Kamurocho, Tokyo, and the new, larger city of Ijincho, Yokohama.
